75 years of Thomas the Tank Engine

Yes its been 75 years since the Rev W Awdry created the worlds most famous steam engine, no not Flying Scotsman but Thomas The Tank, Technically he didnt put in an appearance until a year later for it was the railway stories series which first introduced us to the island of Sodor

Love him or loath him without Thomas and his friends the model railway and heritage railway worlds would be in a much less better position, Thomas is a big part of getting young kids interested in railways both full size and our models. As such should be celebrated for this milestone year.

North Western Models was established in 2015 by Kevin Colley and Christopher Gore as an online model shop based in Stockport, Cheshire. Initially dealing with high quality detailing accessories and kits, North Western Models prides itself in serving the model railway community to promote the notion that detailing helps to bring a model railway to life.

Kevin and Christopher have a lifelong passion with railways in general and also with model railways. Between them, they have planned, built and exhibited a number of layouts in 00 and N gauge at various local model shows.
